- If you reside in the Tok area, would you be interested in becoming a friend of Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge? We have an active group of Friends we are able to call on for special programs and assisting with special activities. If you're interested in learning more about becoming a Friend of Tetlin NWR, please call our office 883-5312 or contact Mary Timm.
- Some of our local Friends even participate in the state wide Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges. This group is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the conservation of the natural resources of all the National Wildlife Refuges within Alaska. The Friends promote understanding and appreciation of these Refuges and assist the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in meeting its mandates.
Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges goals:
- Educate the public and decision makers on local, national, and international levels about Alaska's National Wildlife Refuges.
- Assist the Refuges in accomplishing their missions through wildlife management and habitat improvement projects.
- Fund refuge-oriented projects through grants, memberships, donations, and other activities.
